It’s that time of the year again when the kids are off to school, and the right bag is one of those back-to-school essentials they can’t do without. Here are a few things to keep in mind when you go school bag shopping:
- Consider mobility. Your child’s classroom might be on the second floor of the building – consider strollers, which will make it easier to go up and down flights of stairs.
- Choose backpacks – and pack them – with care. Don’t buy a large backpack, thinking your child can use it for a few years – the backpack must fit now. It must rest right below the shoulder blades and end at the waist. Shoulder straps must be padded and adjustable. Also, make sure not to overload the backpack – the rule of thumb is that its weight should not exceed 10 percent of your child’s weight.
- Look for compartments. Check if the bag has separate compartments for notebooks, pens, and gadgets, so these stay organized.
- Water-resistant material is a plus. We don’t want soggy books, right?
